Chloe Grace Moretz Makes a Decision in ‘If I Stay’

MV5BMjI4NjkxODMyMF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwODYwODQ5MTE@._V1_SX214_AL_Mia Hall (Chloe Grace Moretz, ‘Let Me In’) is living a great life. She has the love of her life, Adam (Jamie Blackley, ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’), a bright future as a chello player and two amazing and supportive parents, but in an instant that all changes.

Her and her parents are in a car accident and she has to decide whether she wants to live or die.

The trailer of ‘If I Stay’ is very emotional and will get your eyes watering.

Chloe, 17, may be very young, but she’s also very talented. She stunned in ‘Let Me In’, she literally kicked ass in ‘Kick Ass’ and although the latest remake of ‘Carrie’ wasn’t very good, she showed off her talent in the lead role. The actress as won several awards: two MTV Movie Awards, one for Best Breakout Star for ‘Kick Ass’, a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Movie Star Under 25 and several others. She just won a Young Hollywood Award on July 28 for Fan Favorite Actor: Female.

‘If I Stay’ also stars Mireille Enos (The Killing) as Kat Hall, Stacy Keach (‘Nebraska’) as Grandpa and Joshua Leonard (‘Men of Honor’) as Denny Hall.

The film is opening in theaters on August 22.

Check out the trailer. If the preview makes your eyes water, what will the film do?

Zoe Saldana is Heading Back to Space

There are a lot comic book movies and there have been a lot premiering in theater this summer alone. And another one is about to hit theaters this Friday, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, but this one should have some girl power in it.

Zoe Saldana almost didn’t take the role of Gamora in the Marvel film. She said in an interview with Marie Claire: “When I first read the script, the female parts just weren’t there.

“There’s no way that I am going to spend five months out of my life sitting on a set every day, going through four hours of makeup, and have nothing to say when all the other main character are solving all the crimes.

“My time is worth more than any paycheck, so if you’re going to solicit me for this, you have to make me feel that I’m going to matter.”

According to Marie Claire, The 36-year-old actress convinced the director and writer, James Gunn (‘Dawn of the Dead’, ‘Scooby-Doo’), to re-write the script for her.

Zoe has done pretty well in outer-space films: ‘Avatar’, ‘Star Trek’, ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ and there are three sequels in the works for ‘Avatar and possibly another ‘Star Trek’ sequel, Marie Claire said.

Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-poster-21The magazine also said she’s been dying to to a Marvel film and won’t be giving up her sci-fi queen title anytime soon.

Zoe said in the interview: “I like the future. Creating the unknown, imagining the unimaginable. The future is limitless–you can change things, evolve things. Also, I don’t see myself in Jane Austen books.”

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ is also starring Chris Pratt (‘Parks and Recreation’) as the lead character Peter Quill, David Michael Bautista (‘Riddick’) as Drax, Vin Diesel (‘Fast and the Furious’ series) as the voice of Groot and Bradley Cooper (‘American Hustle’) as the voice of Rocket.

The film is out Friday, August 1. Check out the trailer:

Jennifer Lawrence and Shailene Woodley Battle for Young Hollywood Awards

Young-Hollywood-Awards-LogoJennifer Lawrence and Shailene Woodley are the top female nominees for tonight’s Young Hollywood Awards.

Jennifer, 23, is nominated for Fan Favorite Actor Female, Best Threesome with her ‘Hunger Games’ co-stars, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson, and Best Cast Chemistry with her co-stars of ‘The Hunger Games’ and ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’.

Shailene, 22, has even more nominations. She was also nominated for Fan Favorite Actor Female and Best Cast Chemistry with her fellow castmates on ‘Divergent’ and ‘The Fault in Our Stars’. The young actress has also been nominated for Best On-Screen Couple with Ansel Elgort from ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ and with Theo James for ‘Divergent’. Looks like Shailene and Jennifer will be battling it out tonight on the CW.

These two lovely ladies are not the only ones up for awards tonight. The Fan Favorite Actor Female category is also filled with many talented TV actresses: Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting (‘The Big Bang Theory’), Zooey Daschanel (‘New Girl’) and Nina Dobrev (‘The Vampire Diaries’).

Margot Robbie made a splash this year with her sexy role alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’. The Australian actress is nominated for the Breakthrough Actress award.

‘Veronica Mars’ has also been nominated for Best Cast Chemistry for film. That makes three film nominees that are led by strong female roles: ‘Veronica Mars’, ‘The Hunger Games’ and ‘Divergent’.

Unfortunately the Super Superhero category is lacking female nominations. There may be a lack for women superhero leads, but there are female super heros in these blockbusters and and at least one of them should be nominated. That’s why ‘The Hunger Games’ and ‘Divergent’ are so popular, strong powerful women in the lead and kicking ass. We need more of these films for young women today.

Check out the Young Hollywood Awards tonight on the CW at 8/7c to see which ladies will take home the prize.

‘Very Good Girls’ Falls Short

VGG_poster_sm-cropped‘Very Good Girls’ is a little like ‘Now and Then’, but not as good. I’m not saying ‘Very Good Girls’ was a bad movie, there was just something missing.

It’s Lily (Dakota Fanning, ‘Man on Fire’) and Gerri’s (Elizabeth Olsen, ‘Godzilla’) last summer before college and it’s the summer that will change their lives, just like ‘Now and Then’. It’s also about falling in love and testing friendships.

At the very beginning of the film, Lily and Gerri meet a guy, David (Boyd Holbrook, ‘Host’). He doesn’t seem like anything special, but both girls fall for him. This boy will test their friendship and make them both grow up.

What this film does right is getting the innocence of two 18-year-old girls about to go off to college and how they both would react when falling for a guy.

Gerri desperately wants to lose her virginity before going off to college, but Lily can barely even talk about sex.

On paper this movie should be great, in reality it’s hard to like the characters. Lily is so innocent and doesn’t know how to handle falling for the same guy as her friend. Gerri is so naive and so oblivious of what’s right in front of her. It’s hard to feel sympathy for either one of them.

I think the predictability hurts the film as well. It’s easy to see where the film is going and it’s easy to guess how the characters will react.

It’s just a shame that the film didn’t live up to its potential. Elizabeth and Dakota are such great actresses and first time director, Naomi Foner, is very talented. She’s been nominated for an Oscar and won a Golden Globe for her screenplay for ‘Running on Empty’. This film just fell short of all of ladies’ talent.

Elizabeth and Dakota are still a delight to see on screen and the film is still worth seeing, just don’t expect any surprises.

‘Very Good Girls’ is now in theaters and on VOD.

‘Mystery Girls’ is for Adults

ABCFmystery-girlsThis show is clearly for the fans of ‘Beverly Hills 90210’, not saying that you wouldn’t enjoy the show if you weren’t, but you certainly won’t get the references and there was a major one this week. If you haven’t at least seen the high school years of ‘90210’ the joke would fall really flat. The writers are assuming that most of the people watching are a fan the 90s hit TV show.

I am a fan of Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth form ‘90210’, so I love all of the references, but if you are not a fan there is still a lot to get out of this show. It’s funny and an all around good time. The story lines are cute and Tori and Jennie are very funny as Holly and Charlie.

I think the show is taking a big risk with some of the bigger references. Too many of the big references and the show could lose fans that are not fans of ‘90210’. For the fans this show is great. You get to see Donna and Kelly again and you love the references that are made here and there. If you are not a fan you can be sitting there enjoying the show and then a big references is given and you can be left sitting there very confused. You might pick up on it being a references, but the joke will lose all meaning to you.

So are the writers gearing this show to the now adults that grew up with ‘90210’ or a bigger audience? I don’t think this episode about going undercover in a high school would have been as funny for a current high school student, but us adults, we can relive those high school memories through this episode.

‘Mystery Girls’ may be on ABC Family, but it seems to be made for adults.

Check out the preview for next week. This week they went undercover in a high school, next week they are biker chicks:

Jessica Alba Returns to Sin City Scared

Jessica Alba is heading back to Sin City and this time she’s not as pretty. The trailer and poster revealed a scared Nancy and a much different Nancy.

The first ‘Sin City’ film came out in 2005 and it was dark and fresh, very different to what we’ve seen before. This time around it looks like the same darkness, but a lot more action. The outlaws will go up against the most powerful man in Sin City and it doesn’t look like it will be easy. Nancy says “maybe I’ll go crazy” and she looks a little crazy in the trailer.

Check out the trailer for ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’:

Jessica, 33, isn’t the only lady returning to the corrupted streets of Sin City. Rosario Dawson is reprising her role as Gail. She only has a small part in the trailer, but hopefully her character will have a bigger part in the film.

Eva Green (‘Penny Dreadful’) has entered the black and white world and she looks stunning as her bright green eyes light up the screen. She looks to have a very big role in the sequel. She will be playing Ava and looks to be right in the middle of the action.

Brittany Murphy will be missed from Sin City. She played a short, but memorable role in the first one.

It’s been years since the first film came out, might be time to re-watch the first one before ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill for’ is released on August 22.

Take a look at the ‘Sin City’ trailer. Do you remember everything that happened:

Blake Lively’s Top 5 Red Carpet Looks

elle_ela | photobucket.com

elle_ela | photobucket.com

Blake Lively has to be the hardest lady to pick top red carpet looks for. That’s because she always looks gorgeous on the red carpet. She has the same good fashion sense as her character Serena on ‘Gossip Girl’. Blake, 26, is constantly on the best dressed lists and just one look at one of her beautiful dresses explains why. It doesn’t hurt that she’s the spokesmodel for Chanel either.

Take a look at her best red carpet looks:

5. Bright Blue Pucci Gown, Elle Style Awards 2011

This is probably one of the best blues I’ve ever seen and it looks even better against Blake’s skin tone. I think she can wear just about anything and look great and make it work, even these purple shoes against the blue. I would never wear purple shoes with a blue dress, but she can pull off the look.

4. Chanel Spring 2008 Couture dress, Chanel dinner during Paris Fashion Week 2011

This silver dress is so sophisticated. I would love to wear it to a work dinner. I would be the most stylish person there and it would still be suitable for the evening, but it could also work for cocktails. Blake wore it during fashion week and showed why she belongs at these Fashion weeks. The media is looking at what she wears as much as they are looking at the runway.

3. Zuhair Mura couture gown, Savages premiere 2012

It’s not an easy task pulling off a nude gown. It can reveal too much, but the ‘Gossip Girl’ actress isn’t showing off too much in this form fitting Zuhair Mura gown. The black detail on the dress shows off her curves nicely. Anyone wanting to wear a nude dress should take tips from Blake, she knows how to wear it well.

2. Chanel couture gown, Met Gala 2011

Once again Blake wore a nude dress and this time with silver flower detail. The dress looks very exotic. She doesn’t look slutty or like she’s showing off too much skin, which a lot of women look like when they try to wear a nude dress. If only we could ask her what her secret is. I also love the beige fabric that sweeps across her. The gown is very unique and I don’t think many women could pull it off, but Blake looks absolutely stunning in this dress.

1. Beaded nude Gucci gown, Met Gala 2014

Each of her dresses just keep getting better and better and this year she showed up at the Met Gala with a gorgeous beaded nude Gucci gown with an elegant train. The dress is almost fit for a princess, except for the very low plunging neckline. Kate Middleton would not get away with wearing that neckline.

Blake has the perfect figure to pull off all of her great red carpet looks. She’s slender, but curvy, which makes the designer dresses look better on her than they do on the models. If you ever need any fashion inspiration, just take a look at any of Blake’s stunning red carpet looks.

Mystery Solved, How Holly and Charlie Were Brought Back together

ABCFmystery-girlsAs needed as this episode was for the backstory, I think ABC Family made the right call by not airing the pilot episode first. Holly and Charlie are not as likable in the pilot episode as they are in the others. Charlie can’t stand Holly and Holly is even more so wrapped up in her glory days than the other episodes. The two of them are just not easily liked in this episode, but when you’ve already come to like them, it’s alright because you want to see how their detective agency came to be.

I think the ‘Death Becomes Her’ episode was perfect to start the series with. The episode references a lot of their time on their hit TV show, while at the same time they are back together and solving crimes. The episode gave a better tone to start the show with than starting with the pilot. I don’t think as many people would have been interested in the show if the pilot was the first episode.

The one major problem I had with this episode was where did Charlie’s daughter come from? She wasn’t mentioned in the other episodes. I know things can get changed slightly from the pilot episode to the regular episodes, but because the pilot was not ran first, this is now just confusing. Will the daughter be in other episodes too?

Now that we have the backstory, I am looking forward to their future cases.

Check out the preview for next week. Holly and Charlie are undercover at a high school and Holly looks like she’s from ‘Clueless’:

Megan Fox and Michael Bay Make Up for TMNT Remake

Michael Bay fired Megan Fox from the ‘Transformers’ movies back in 2009, and years later they are working together again on the reboot of ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’.

Since she was fired off the ‘Transformers’ films, the actress has had a difficult time landing another lead role. Now she is playing April O’Neal in the latest ‘TMNT’ film.

In 2009 Megan, 28, said in an interview with Wonderland magazine about Michael: “He’s like Napoleon and he wants to create this insane, infamous mad-man reputation. He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So he’s a nightmare to work for but when you get him away from set, and he’s not in director mode, I kind of really enjoy his personality because he’s so awkward, so hopelessly awkward. He has no social skills at all. And it’s endearing to watch him.”

According to Us Weekly, Steven Spielberg suggested that Michael fire Megan from the ‘Transformers’ movies, and he did.

tmntfanposterorreal (1)This time around she has all nice things to say about working with Michael. She told Entertainment Weekly: “He was one of the most lovely people that I dealt with in making this movie. I’ve always loved Michael. We’ve had our battles in the past but even when I’ve been really outspoken about difficulties we’ve had, I’ve always followed up by saying that I have a particular affinity to him.”

If you were a fan of April and the turtles as a kid, this take will be a little different. For starters, April is going to be a stronger character.

Megan said to EW: “She’s more of a leader when she explores her relationship with the turtles instead of just the human companion that gets dragged along on the adventure. It’s more representative of a modern woman.”

The film will hit theaters August 8.

Check out this interview with Megan. She talks about why she likes ‘TMNT’ and who her favorite turtle is:

Blake Lively Launches New Website

sheislove31 | photobucket.com

sheislove31 | photobucket.com

Other than the red carpet, it’s been a while since we’ve really seen Blake Lively, but she’s been hard at work and has a film due out next year and her website launches this month.

According to The New York Post’s Page Six, the site will go live on July 23.

Blake, 26, told the British Vogue: “It’s something that will be launching in a few months and that I’m really, really thrilled about. The main element of it is that it’s about storytelling and it’s about living a very one-of-a-kind, curated life and how to achieve that. There’s nothing like it out there – it’s without a genre.”

There will be videos on the site and the ‘Gossip Girl’ actress will be in some of the videos, E Online reported.

The new website will be called Preserve, The Hollywood Reporter said.

There is a lot of speculation about what the website will be like. E Online believes it sounds nothing like Ellen DeGeneres’ lifestyle brand that she recently announced, but sounds similar to Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop blog and Lauren Conrad’s The Little Market.

While everyone is calling Preserve a lifestyle website, Blake said that it is not.

“I don’t know if it’s a lifestyle site. I was very vague about it. And because of that, everyone was filling in the blanks about what other sites it could be like. It’s not accurate. I’m creating a brand that I felt the need for. I was on my show [Gossip Girl] for so long that I really wanted to break from acting because it lost its excitement for me in a way because it was such a job,” Blake said to The  Cut.

MTV reported that she will be very hands-on with the project.

Speculation will end on July 23 when the website goes live and everyone will see what the brand really is.

Blake also has a film coming out next year, ‘The Age of Adaline’.
